The Ultimate Guide to the Best Easter Egg Hunts in the UK 🐰

Easter is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than by hunting for chocolate, exploring beautiful gardens and historic estates, and spending quality time with family and friends? From adventurous scavenger trails to classic garden hunts and interactive mini events, the UK is packed with brilliant Easter egg hunt experiences for 2026.

Here’s our round-up of easter egg hunts and events across the country! 🌷

🥚 1. National Trust Easter Egg Trails – Various sites across the UK

Many National Trust properties host traditional Easter egg trails where children can follow clues through gardens, woodlands and estates to collect chocolatey prizes. These trails are a brilliant way to explore iconic British landmarks while getting into the Easter spirit.

You will receive a trial sheet to follow for your adventure along with some bunny ears to wear along the way. You can also choose from chocolate eggs or a vegan/free from alternative.

There are various locations across the UK – you can visit the National Trust website to find your nearest park.

Dates vary depending on each park but most of them runs from: 14 Mar – Mid April

🏰 2. Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt at Hampton Court Palace – London

Back by popular demand, The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt happens across the majestic gardens of Hampton Court Palace, where you can combine historic culture with sweet treats!

Children (and adults!) can roam the beautiful, lush gardens searching for the elusive Lindt Gold Bunnies hiding between the early spring flowers. Complete the trail and collect your chocolate treat — a perfect spring day out near London.

Non-Chocolate alternatives are also available upon request.

Runs: 21 Mar – 12 Apr 2026 (during Easter holidays)

Please note that opening times are in-line with the palace hours.

🚂 3. Great Railway Easter Hunt – Isle of Wight Steam Railway

For something a bit different, climb aboard the Great Railway Easter Hunt at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. They are running a family-friendly event featuring chocolate egg hunts, Easter bonnet parades and scenic steam train rides.

There is a Sherlock-style hunt which invites youngsters to search for giant easter eggs by solving clues and following the treasure map for them to claim a chocolate prize at the end.

The Easter egg hunt runs everyday throughout the Easter holidays from the 6th – 21st April.

For anyone visiting over the Easter weekend, there will also be the Easter Bonnet parade that children can participate in. Bring your homemade Easter bonnet with you and you can enter where it will be judged and prizes can be won.

The parade will take place each day from 13.15-15.30.

🌿 4. Mother Shipton’s Cave, Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

There are plenty of Easter egg hunts in Yorkshire, but this one combines the wonderful world of Alice in Wonderland.

You can tumble down the rabbit hole into an Easter Wonderland, all of which is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. By following the themed woodland trail, you will come across springtime scenes, character appearances including Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts, and plenty of photo opportunities.

Your visit also includes access to Mother Shipton’s Cave, the Petrifying Well and the outdoor adventure playground (weather permitting). It’s perfect for a family day out as food kiosks are open, picnics are welcome, and dogs on leads can also enjoy the riverside walk.

Runs from: 28th March – 19th April

🐥 5. Easter Eggstravaganza at Hartlebury Castle – Worcestershire

Over the Easter Bank Holiday, Hartlebury Castle in Worcestershire throws an Easter Eggstravaganza, featuring traditional egg hunts for all ages which is a fundraising event for the castle.

You can explore the castle grounds, find hidden eggs, enjoy bunny-themed activities and pose with the Easter Bunny! In addition to the Easter egg hunts, there are also Easter craft sessions to occupy the kids over the school holidays

Make sure you check the website for the times of the Easter egg hunts as there are different time slots for different age groups and these must be pre-booked.

🐣 6. London Easter Hunts & Trails

If you’re in or visiting London over the Easter holidays, there’s no shortage of egg-centric fun:

The Big Egg Hunt — a city-wide visual trail where colourful egg art appears at famous city spots (and is free to explore).

BucketRace’s Easter Scavenger Hunt — a clue-based treasure hunt through Soho perfect for families and adults alike.

Local egg trails at places like Morden Hall Park and Merchant Square for a mix of nature and community fun.

London’s Easter offerings blend history, art and active play — perfect for a spring break day out!

🧠 Bonus: Hidden Trails and Local Hunts

While the big attractions are always fun, don’t overlook local community hunts — from farm trails to public park Easter egg hunts. For example, in the Midlands around Solihull there are seasonal scavenger trails and themed hunts at local farms and cultural sites.
